5-6pm: Hidden Stories – Find the explorer in yourself on this site specific writing workshop: we will explore and observe the festival in a fresh and original way: be awake, listen, watch, and bring your experiences into writing exercises we do together, combining individual work with writing in pairs, using prose, poetry and script. What is the festival that you see?

10-11pm: Poetry and Sex – Delve into some innuendo, try your hands at a love ballad and tickle the muse of erotica until he/she inspires you to produce some deliciously poetic smut. Strictly adults only!

Sunday

1-2pm: Poetry Building

3-4pm: Letter Diving

5-6pm: Songwriting 101

8-11pm: Open Book – As “open mic” is to music, “Open Book” is to stories, poetry, scripts, improv and songs. The Write Riot team and friends will be reading our favourite creations from the weekend and everyone is welcome to join in. Bring drinks, snacks and willingness to share your work.

“You must write every single day of your life… You must lurk in libraries and climb the stacks like ladders to sniff books like perfumes and wear books like hats upon your crazy heads… may you be in love every day for the next 20,000 days. And out of that love, remake a world. - Ray Bradbury” —(via bethandbee) (via fuckyeahreading) (via prettybooks)

booklover:

“A writer as such is a special kind of androgynous creature, all sexes and all ages when creating fictional characters, all the people he or she has known, observed or interacted with. So while I’m a woman, as a writer I’m a composite intelligence.”

Harriet didn’t even hear. She ran into her room and flung herself on the bed. She lay quietly for a minute looking reverently at her notebook and then opened it. She had had an unreasonable fear that it would be empty, but there was her handwriting, reassuring if not beautiful. She grabbed up the pen and felt the mercy of her thoughts coming quickly, zooming through her head out of the pen onto the paper

- Louise Fitzhugh, Harriet the Spy (1964)

Between now and July 22nd, we will be posting daily(ish) quotes, inspiring images and various stuff to get the creative juices flowing (no, not those creative juices. Behave yourself.)

See you in the Garden!
